About Us
Gene Bural, the founder of Hi Plains Canvas, started this business in 1957 by finding material and renting a sewing machine by the hour to make AC covers. It then evolved to what it is today, a third-generation, family-backed business. In the 70's-80's Gene had his four sons working for him, making awnings, trampolines, and tents. Anything you can think of that involves canvas, the Bural's made. Believe it or not, back then the company was called "Bural Tent and Awning." In the 1990's, Dale Bural (Gene's son) had the idea to start "AAA Signs of Amarillo," and the company has been growing ever since.

Hi Plains Canvas started out as Bural Tent and Awning.
We relocated from North McMasters in Amarillo to South Amarillo. At that time, we incorporated and changed our name to Hi Plains Products, Inc.
Gene Bural has owned the company from day one and is still the President of the corporation. In 1996, he handed the company operations and management over to his sons. The company expanded into the sign industry and has become a full service sign operation.
